South Australia’s First Giant Inflatable Football (Soccer) Pitch –
Public Launch 26th August 2006
Football Focus launches its giant inflatable football (soccer)
pitch, aptly named “The Pitch” to the public on 26th August 2006 at
Cumberland United Football Club.
The first inflatable football pitch in South Australia has multiple
uses for children and adults, boys and girls. It’s perfect for
beach football and small-sided games, the instant barrier minimizes
wandering balls plus the pitch reinforces the pleasure and fun that
should be part of any active lifestyle. Unique to Adelaide the
pitch will also be available for hire.
Arguably the fastest growing sport in Australia, Football (still
known as soccer) is becoming increasingly popular in Adelaide,
riding high on the tidal wave of the World Cup and success of the
Socceroos. Over recent years, sport and recreation has become
increasingly recognized by Government as a conduit to enhance
quality of life outcomes for all people in the community. The
health and community benefits of participation in sport and
recreation are well documented. By encouraging children to be
active and engaging them in fun physical activities is not only
important for healthy growth and development but establishes
routines that could stay with them for life.
Following similar successes on the East Coast, Jason Hayhurst,
Football Focus Director, brings to Adelaide, South Australia’s
first giant inflatable football (soccer) pitch, appropriately
called “The Pitch” – sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.
35m long by 25m wide, The Pitch has inflatable perimeters and
“traditional style” netted goals at each end. It is made from PVC
coated vinyl, more often associated with “bouncy castles”.
