ASME SA213 / ASTM A213 This specification covers seamless ferritic and austenitic steel
boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger tubes, designated Grades
T5, TP304, etc.
U tubes are manufactured by bending straight tubes. Bending is done
cold on an automatic U-bend. To ensure tube wall thinning and
diameter ovality are controlled, tube bending is accomplished with
a mandrel inserted into the tube. What's more, the U-bend of the
U-tube is stress relieved under controlled conditions and cycles
for extended life.

diameter and 0.015 to 0.500 in. [0.4 to 12.7 mm], inclusive, in
minimum wall thickness or, if specifified in the order, average

Manufacture | Tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be either hot finished or cold finished, as specified. | ||||
Heat Treatment | seamless tubing immediately following hot forming may be
individually quenched in water or rapidly cooled by other means,
provided that the temperature of the tubes after hot forming is not
less than the minimum specifified solution temperature (direct quenched). | ||||

Surface Condition | 1.Cold-fifinished steel tubes shall be free of scale and suitable
for inspection. A slight amount of oxidation is not considered
scale. 2.Hot-fifinished steel tubes shall be free of loose scale and
suitable for inspection. 3.Stainless steel tubes shall be pickled free of scale.When bright
annealing is used, pickling is not necessary. | ||||
