This is one of those things that everyone should have in their glove box of their car, truck or motor home. It is a multifunction tool that can potentially save your life or help you to save someone else's life. It is a flashlight, an emergency light, a car window breaking device, a seat belt cutter and a crank charging power source for your mobile phone. It comes with a female USB cable so you can plug you phone into it for charging. (Please see my note about charging my phone later on)

To charge the unit you turn the crank at 3 revolutions per second for about a minute to 3 minutes. You should not under any condition turn the crank for 10 minutes or more at a time. Cranking for 1 minute will light the flashlight for 40 minutes or 60 minutes of the flashing red LED. A fully charged battery will operate the flashlight for 5 hours or the red flashing light for 12 hours. Make sure that you crank the handle in the clockwise direction.

There is an on button for the flashlight and a separate on button to turn on the red flashing light for emergencies. The head of the flashlight contains 3 powerful magnets that allow the flashlight to securely stick to any metal part of the car so the red flashing light can warn oncoming motorists that you are stopped on the side of the road for example.

The unit is also specified to be able to charge your smart phone but in my testing it would not charge my Apple iPhone 5S. The battery charging indicator of my phone would not light up and an error message popped up stating that the charger was not supported by my phone. Even after extended cranking I could see no progress in the charging of my phone.

We live outside of a large city and there are a lot of retention ponds in home editions and industrial parks. Every year multiple people accidentally drive into one of these ponds and dies. When you drive into the pond the electrical system of your car stops working and your electric car windows do not work, your electric door unlocking system does not work and many people cannot even unlock their seat belts with wet hands.

This tool allows you to quickly and safely cut your seat belt and then use the hammer to break out your vehicle's side windows or the back window and escape. Every day in America someone drives into one of these ponds and cannot get out of the vehicle. Even in roadside accidents they get trapped by their bent in doors and locked seat belts.

In my video I show the flashlight and the flashing red light and how they look in the dark. The life of this product is 5 years. The LEDs are long life and never need to be replaced. The flashlight is good and I rate it as a 4 star item. The phone charging concept did not work for me and that is a 1 star rating. I would never use a crank device to charge my iPhones as the output current of such crank generators is 400 mA and the voltage can vary. That is why the Apple charging circuitry does not want to accept this type of charging source. I will not count the inability of this device to charge my phone against the product rating because for me that function of this device is not critical.

This is a good emergency flashlight, emergency flashing red light, seat belt cutter and window breaker for any vehicle. For the safety aspect of the device I rate it as a 4 star item. This is one of the things you put into your vehicle and you hope you never have to use it. If you do, you will be glad that you have it!
