When electric power workers choose test transformers to conduct
step-up tests, they often encounter the question of whether to
choose oil-immersed type or inflatable type or dry type. Then the
question arises, why is the same test transformer, there's oil, air
and dry? This article answers your questions. Because of the
differences in the internal structure of the test transformers,
they were divided into these three types of test transformers.
Their functions were all the same, but the internal insulation
materials were just different, which resulted in the advantages and
disadvantages of each of the three types of test transformers.
The oil-immersed test transformer, as its name implies, is an
internal insulating oil used for ARC extinguishing, with many
advantages, such as low cost, fast voltage boost, high voltage
resistance, easy and cheap maintenance, etc. , if it is damaged in
the course of use, it can be taken to replace the copper core or
the way to replace the insulation oil, so the cost of procurement
and use are relatively low, but because the interior is loaded with
insulation oil, therefore, the equipment is relatively heavy, not
conducive to moving to outdoor use, and there are disadvantages
such as oil pollution. Inflatable test transformer, the internal
use of SF6 gas for insulation arc, because it is inflatable, it has
small size, light weight, clean and oil-free advantages, but if the
internal gas escape, very difficult to repair, can only return to
the factory to deal with the use of more trouble, and the cost of
the equipment is relatively high, causing the price is naturally
rising. Dry-type test transformer, using the internal iron core
plus epoxy casting technology manufacturing, one molding, there is
no gas and do not use insulating oil, low cost, cheap, but large
size, weight, at the same time, because it is one casting, if the
internal damage, almost impossible to repair, the use of the
process, the need for users to be extra careful, so the general
small projects are more like to use the equipment. As a whole,
oil-immersed, gas-filled and dry-type transformers have their own
advantages and disadvantages, to meet the different needs of
different power workers .
