MFI Plastic melt flow index testing machine ISO 1133 ASTM D 1238
Product Description:
MFI Plastic melt flow index testing machine ISO 1133 ASTM D 1238 is used for mensurating melt flow rate when the viscous flow state MFR, MVR value, it applies to the polycarbonate, higher temperature of aromatic sulfone, fluorine plastic, nylon and other engineering plastics, can also be applied to polyethylene (PE), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), ABS resin, polyformaldehyde (POM), polycarbonate (PC) resin with lower melting temperature, such as plastic test, widely used in plastic production, plastic products, such as petroleum and chemical industry and related colleges and universities, scientific research units, and the commodity inspection department.
Principle and Structure:
Melt Flow Indexer is actually a plastic extrusion measurer. It heats the specimen to a defined temperature and melts the specimen. An extrusion test would be performed through a hole of a certain diameter (Die) when the melt specimen is pressed by the load of required weights. Melt flow rate refers to the mass of the melt thermoplastic which flows through the standard die in 10 minutes under a certain press and temperature.
Melt (mass) flow rate is referred to by MFR, whose unit is g/10min.
The formula is:
MFR(θ, Mnom)= tref *M/t
Wherein:
θ—test temperature, ℃
Mnom—normal load, kg
tref—Reference time(10min), s(600s)
M—average weight of specimen strip, g
t—time interval of cutting, s
For example:
There is a type of specimen, from which each part is cut off every 30 seconds. And the mass of each part is 0.0816g, 0.0862g, 0.0815g, 0.0895g, 0.0825g.
The average mass is:
M=(0.0816+0.0862+0.0815+0.0895+0.0825)/5=0.0843(g)
According to the formula,
MFR=600*0.0843/30=1.686(g/10min)
This instrument is composed of heating furnace and temperature control system, which are fixed on a column and base. The temperature control part adopts PLC temperature control method with high capacity of resisting disturbance, high accuracy and stability of temperature control. The heating furnace is in the upper part of the instrument. The heater strip in the furnace is twined on the heating rod according to a certain rule, which makes the gradient of temperature the smallest to meet the requirements of the standard. The control panel on the base is used to set the test data, such as the test temperature.
