Stainless steel coil
It has general corrosion resistance similar to unstable ni-cr304.
It has high temperature oxidation resistance, but the oxidation
rate will be affected by internal factors such as exposure
environment and product morphology. The total heat transfer
coefficient of metal depends on the thermal conductivity of metal,
but also on other factors. Stainless steel keeps the surface clean,
so it can conduct electricity. Metals with higher thermal
conductivity have better heat dissipation than other metals
- 201 is a lower-cost austenitic stainless steel alloy
- It has lower chromium (16-18%) and nickel (3.5-5.5%) content compared to 304 and 316
- 201 offers moderate corrosion resistance
- Commonly used for decorative and non-critical applications
Grade 304 Stainless Steel Coils:
- 304 is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel
- Contains 18-20% chromium and 8-10.5% nickel
- Provides good general corrosion resistance
- Extensively used in food processing, medical devices, and industrial equipment
Grade 316 Stainless Steel Coils:
- An austenitic stainless steel with higher corrosion resistance than 304
- Contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum
- The addition of molybdenum enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
- Preferred for marine, chemical, and other highly corrosive environments
All three grades are available as cold-rolled coils in the thickness range of 0.2mm to 12mm. The key differences are the alloy composition, corrosion resistance, and typical applications for each grade.
Hot-Rolled Stainless Steel Coils:
Manufacturing Process:
- Stainless steel is first cast into ingots or continuous cast into slabs.
- The slabs are then reheated and passed through a series of rolling mills at high temperatures, typically around 1100-1200°C.
- This hot rolling process reduces the thickness and increases the length/width of the steel.
Key Properties:
- Thicker cross-section compared to cold-rolled coils, typically ranging from 3mm to 12mm.
- Exhibit higher strength and hardness due to the hot working process.
- Have a distinctive mill scale appearance on the surface.
- Lower formability and ductility compared to cold-rolled coils.
- Generally have lower dimensional accuracy and tighter tolerances.
Common Grades:
- 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 430, 409, 410 are some of the popular hot-rolled stainless steel grades.
