Iron nickel Alloy Bars High Temperature Alloy

Iron-nickel alloys, often referred to as INVAR or KOVAR, are known for their excellent thermal stability and low thermal expansion coefficients. These properties make them suitable for high-temperature applications, such as in aerospace, electronics, and precision instruments.

Key Characteristics

  1. Composition: Typically, these alloys consist of iron and nickel in varying proportions. For instance, INVAR has about 36% nickel, while KOVAR contains approximately 29% nickel and is often used for sealing glass to metal.

  2. High-Temperature Resistance: Iron-nickel alloys can maintain their mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, making them ideal for applications that experience thermal cycling.

  3. Low Thermal Expansion: These alloys exhibit minimal expansion when heated, which is crucial for components that require high dimensional stability.

  4. Machinability: They can be machined easily, allowing for precise fabrication of components.

  5. Corrosion Resistance: Depending on the specific alloy, they can offer good resistance to oxidation and corrosion.

Applications

  • Aerospace Components: Used in engines and structural parts that must withstand high temperatures.
  • Electronic Devices: Employed in connectors and substrates where thermal stability is critical.
  • Precision Instruments: Ideal for measuring devices that require high accuracy over varying temperatures.

Nickel Alloy 625 Feature

1. It has excellent corrosion resistance to various corrosive media in oxidation and reduction environment 2. Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, and no stress corrosion cracking due to chloride 3. Excellent corrosion resistance to inorganic acids, such as nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and mixed acid of sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid 4. Excellent corrosion resistance to mixed solution of various inorganic acids 5. When the temperature reaches 40 ℃, it can show good corrosion resistance in various concentrations of hydrochloric acid solution 6. Good processability and weldability, no cracking sensitivity after welding 7. Manufacturing certification of pressure vessel with wall temperature of - 196-450 ℃ 8. It is certified by NACE standard of American Society of Corrosion Engineers (mr-01-75) to meet the highest standard level VII for acid gas environment

Nickel Alloy 625 Metallographic structure

625 is a face centered cubic crystal structure. After holding at 650 ℃ for a long enough time, carbon particles and unstable quaternary phase will be precipitated and transformed into stable Ni3 (Nb, Ti) orthorhombic lattice phase. After solution strengthening, the mechanical properties of the material will be improved, but the plasticity will be decreased.
