What is desiccant paper ?
Desiccant Paper is a clean, adsorbing paper comprised of silica
gel. Featuring millions of adsorbent
particles contained in a semi-rigid cellulose fiber matrix, this
desiccant paper enables fast drying and
extraordinary versatility in your package design.
Desiccant papers are used for a variety of purposes like absorbing
moisture from products in order to keep
them dry or drying something out after it as been wet. For example,
desiccant paper is often used inside
packaging materials as a precautionary measure against mold,
mildew, tarnish or corrosion from forming by
keeping products dry during transit.
How Desiccant Paper Works?
Desiccant papers help prevent moisture from building up on
materials in closed environments such as sealed
packaging. Desiccant paper is received in an unactivated state.
Once activated through a heating process,
the desiccant paper absorbs the water molecules and traps them in
the paper. When packaging containing
desiccant paper comes in contact with moist air or liquids in its
surrounding, the liquid will be drawn into the
activated material. That is how desiccant sheets are able to keep
metalized products from rust and corrosion.
Which advantages from desiccant paper ?
• Can be cut into different shapes and sizes to suit your
application.
• Easy to apply drying agents that extract moisture from a large
range of materials.
• Can be formed in a package to provide a uniform environment for
moisture control.
What application do the desiccant paper have ?
1. Electronic components, computer parts
2. Lateral flow devices
3. Bio-medical instruments, diagnostic test kits
4. Pressed flowers
5. Biohazard adsorbent pads
6. Aerospace component storage
7. Anti-condensation for Lensed devices
8. Pharmaceutical goods storage
9. Instrumentation, components packaging
