If there' s a thunderbolt or USB 3.0 port, then yes, it should.
Otherwise, a normal USB to USB hub would be better.
Can the usb c port (intended for charging your device) can be used
to pass data or does it only pass power?
The USB-C port can only be used for inbound charging. For example,
when I plugged a Google Pixel phone with a USB-C port into the
Ankur 3-in-1 USB C hub, its ONLY ability was to charge the device
the hub was plugged into'. I could not reverse the charge flow, nor
do other devices work on the USB-C port.
