The WHM6160 series marine diesel engine is a new generation of engine that has been independently developed based on Weichai's 70-year experience and by absorbing domestic and foreign advanced technologies.The product fully takes account of the needs of different markets and working conditions used by users, and has the high-quality characteristics of the low fuel consumption, low vibration, and low emission, and the high reliability, high power, and high adaptability. The engine uses a symmetrical layout, and is simple to operate, and easy to use and maintain, and is used as an ideal supporting power for fishing boats, transport ships, engineering ships and 250-500 kW generators that are used in offshore and inland river applications

• Safe and reliable: The high-strength engine block, crankshaft and connecting rod ensure that the diesel engine overhaul period is not less than 20000h; the large flow filtering, cooling and lubrication system and high-efficiency cooling system, and less-pipe and one-cylinder and one-head design ensure the reliability of and the convenience in use and maintenance of the diesel.
• Strong power: The high-pressure fuel pump, turbocharger, fuel injector, valve and combustion chamber are reasonably matched to obtain wide power range, large torque reserve (more than 30%), and excellent power performance indicators which remain at the leading level among similar competitive products.
• Fuel economy: It uses four-valve technology, and is provided with a pulse conversion turbocharger, featuring large air intake quantity, sufficient combustion, economic operating speed range of 700~1200r/min, and minimum fuel consumption up to 188g/kW•h.
• Low vibration and low noise: Enhancement of the design of key components allows the vibration index of the product to reach the Class A of the grade 11 noise level and the noise index to be 5 decibels lower than the similar products, being up to the world's leading level.
• Strong practicality: Its unique Yuanhangbao monitoring system is able to monitor the diesel engine speed, water temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure and other parameters in a real-time manner, and in case that any diesel engine parameter exceeds the limit, an automatic alarm will be triggered and the engine will be shut down; the engine is provided with an additional wind/wave mode to ensure that the ship is not shut down at any critical moment.
