ASTM B409 Incoloy 800 Plate, Strip and Sheet
The ASTM B409 covers component of Alloy 800 or Incoloy Sheet and
Plate. Application are heat exchangers, process piping, pickling
equipment, pumps, valves, fasteners and fittings.
ASTM B409 specification covers UNS N08800 form of rolled plate,
sheet, and strip. Alloy UNS N08800 is normally employed with
service temperatures up to 1100°F (593°C). Alloys UNS N08800 are
normally employed in service temperatures above 1100°F (593°C)
where resistance to creep and rupture is required, and they are
annealed to develop controlled grain size for optimum properties in
this temperature range.
Scope And Manufacturing
ASTM B409 specification covers Incoloy 800 Sheet, which is best
machined in the annealed condition, with hot-rolled, cold-rolled
and hot-forged material giving the best results. It is machined on
heavy duty equipment using tools large and heavy enough to
withstand the loads and dissipate heat quickly. The primary
function of the Hot Strip Mill is to reheat semi finished steel
slabs of steel nearly to their melting point, then roll them
thinner and longer through 12 successive rolling mill stands,
driven by motors totaling 77,000 HP and finally coiling up the
lengthened steel sheet to the next process. The Hot Mill rolls
slabs weighing up to 30 tons between 30” and 74”. Steel slab 8 to 9
inches thick and up to 36 feet long is rolled into strip as thin as
1/16 inches and up to a half-mile in length. Coils are produced
with a 30” inside diameter (‘eye’) on one of two coilers, with
outside diameter limitations of 72” and 74”, corresponding to 850
and 1000 pounds-per-inch-width (PIW), respectively.

Hot Rolled Steel
Hot Rolled Steel is available in many shapes, grades and sizes. Choose from the selection below.
Hot rolling involves the production of sheet metal from billets by passing the steel through rollers while above its recrystallization temperature to desired physical dimensions. Multiple passes through the rollers may be necessary to produce the final dimensions. Read more about the differences between hot and cold rolled steel.
Incoloy 800 Plates
Incoloy 800® is a nickel-chromium alloy with high strength and superb resistance & Incoloy 800H and 800 HT are nickel-iron-chromium alloys. 800HT Incoloy Strips, Sheet & Plates, Incoloy Alloy UNS N08800/N08810/N08811 Plates, Incoloy Alloy UNS N08800/N08810/N08811 Sheet, Incoloy Alloy UNS N08800/N08810/N08811 Plates, Incoloy Alloy 800/800H/800HT Shim Sheets, Incoloy Alloy 800/800H/800HT DIN 1.4876/1.4958/1.4859 Chequered Plate.
Incoloy Alloy 800/800H/800HT Strips, Sheet & Plate was proposed
for high temperature basic applications. The nickel content makes
the alloys highly resistant to both chloride stress-corrosion
cracking and to embitterment from precipitation of sigma stage.
Meanwhile, for high temperature applications requiring optimum
rupture and creep properties, Incoloy Alloy 800H Plates (UNS N08810
Plates) and Incoloy Alloy 800HT Strip(UNS N08811 Strip) are used.
Incoloy Alloy 800/800H/800HT Strips, Sheet & Plate are also
referred as WNR 1.4876 Sheets, WNR 1.4958 Plates and WNR 1.4859
Strip respectively.
