Description of Portable Floating Bridge

A floating bridge, also known as a pontoon bridge, uses floats or shallow-draft boats to support a continuous deck for pedestrian and vehicle travel. The buoyancy of the supports limits the maximum load they can carry. Most floating bridges are temporary, used in wartime and civil emergencies. Permanent floating bridges are useful for sheltered water-crossings where it is not considered economically feasible to suspend a bridge from anchored piers. Such bridges can require a section that is elevated, or can be raised or removed, to allow waterborne traffic to pass.

How are floating bridges constructed?
Individual bridge pontoons are usually built on dry land next to a waterway, then floated and towed like barges to the bridge site. They are connected to grounded approach structures on each end, starting at the edge of the floating structure and then pieced together toward the eventual bridge’s center. The pontoons are held in place by enormous steel cables generally hundreds of feet long that are connected to anchors buried deep in the lakebed.

We also specialize in producing the derivative product of steel Bailey bridge, such as panel pin, nonstandard transom, bridge deck, female end post, male end post, bridge seat, baseplate, reinforced chord, clip and so on. All the machining accessories of Bailey type bridge are done by ourselves, which can control the quality, cost and delivery time.
