Galvanized Steel Stair Treads For Marine And Ship Decks With Nosing
1. Specifications of Galvanized Steel Stair Treads:
Galvanized Steel Stair Treads, constructed with holed and grooved side plates to ease fixing to
stringers. Treads are safe, self cleaning, skid resistant and
economical. A unique range of fittings to enable the easy
installation of flat Kick and Toe Boards to standard handrail
installations. Can be either welded or fixed via a grub screw
reducing installation time and expense. Ideal for added protection
and security to handrail walkways.
2. Types of Galvanized Steel Stair Treads:
Galvanized Steel Stair Tread is fabricated by grating, nosing plate and side plate.
Main type:
1) Checkered plate nosing , Bolted fixing anti-slip
2) Checkered plate nosing, Welded fixing anti-slip
3) Without nosing, Bolted fixing
4) Without nosing, Welded fixing
3. Type of the bearing bar
There are two kinds of Galvanized Steel Stair Treads distinguished by different bearing bar types, The respective of
features are as follows:
1) Plain: the most widely used gratings, available for flooring
sidewalk, all kinds of ditch cover, stair tread, etc.
2) Serrated: best non-skid property & safety compared with
plain grating.
4. The most popular specifications of Galvanized Steel Stair Treads:
1) Bearing Bars - Load-carrying bars made from steel strip or slit sheets or from
rolled or extruded aluminum and extending in the direction of the
grating span.
2) Cross Bars - The connecting bars that extend perpendicularly across the
bearing bars. Where cross bars intersect the bearing bars, they are
welded, forged or mechanically locked to the bearing bars.
3) Grating - An open grid assembly of metal bars, in which the bearing bars
running in one direction are spaced by rigid attachment to cross
bars running perpendicular to them or by bent connecting bars
extending between them.

Galvanized Steel Stair Tread is the most widely used for their strength and ease of installation
and are universally used in most industrial and commercial
applications. Riveted steel stair treads have a greater load
carrying capacity for the same span and depth of bearing bar and
greater walking comfort. Both can be ordered with a serrated
surface for additional safety.
Food processing plants, maintenance areas, worker platforms on
marine and oil rigs are just a few of the areas that commonly
employ the use of stair treads to increase safety.
