Steering rack structure and working principle:

Steering gear is mainly composed of pinion, rack, adjusting screw, shell and rack guide block, etc., steering gear pinion in the lower end of the steering spindle, meshing with the steering rack. When rotating the steering wheel, the pinion in the steering gear will rotate, driving the rack in the steering gear to move in the direction that the steering wheel rotates. The action of the steering gear rack, through the steering gear rack end and the steering rod end, is transferred to the steering knuckle arm, so that the wheel rotates.

How to maintain steering rack:

1. When driving on the bumpy road surface, slow down and reduce the load borne by the steering rack;
2, often check the dust jacket on both sides of the steering rack and the dust jacket connected with the upper part of the steering rack and the universal cross shaft. The breakage of dust jacket is the main factor leading to the early wear and damage of steering machine. After the dust jacket is damaged, water and dust and sand will enter the inside of the steering rack through the broken place, destroy the grease oil film of the gear rack, resulting in rust and abnormal wear inside the steering rack. If the internal water and sand are not dealt with immediately, it will cause the scrap of the steering rack in a short time. So check the status of the dust jacket at least once a month, if the dust jacket is found to be damaged, it must be replaced immediately, and make a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the steering rack before replacement;
3. Before making the four-wheel positioning adjustment and after changing the steering rod, special attention should be paid to the phenomenon of distortion and improper assembly of the dust jacket, otherwise it will cause damage to the dust jacket.
