Customized Motor Operated Valve Actuator Worm Gear Manual Override
Product Feature
The manual overrides are “safety” features for when power is lost and the solenoid needs to be operated. 2 position valves with manual overrides, when activated, shift the valve to its energized position. Some 3 position valves come standard with a one-direction, push-pin manual override. When the manual override is pushed, the spool shifts following the logic of energizing S2. Manual override options are intended for emergency use only and are not intended for continuous operation.
Specifications
Depending on the markets and types of facilities, the features of emergency manual control, key functions of the actuator, can be very different. However, several features have a prime significance.
Manual override specifications:
Manual override with electrical priority is required in most of the technical specifications. However, the following two principles must be adhered to:
1. it must be possible to operate the handwheel at any time
2. the number of turns on the handwheel must not be too high.

Application
Standard worm gears can be configured to fit almost any
partial-turn or multi-turn valve (e.g., ball valves, butterfly
valves, etc.). Worm gear operators create a mechanical advantage in
torque, which reduces the amount of work and/or the number of turns
required to cycle a valve.
