EDI module water requirements:
Each of the following indicators is the minimum necessary condition
to ensure the normal operation of EDI. In order to make the system
run better, the system should be designed to increase the water
supply requirements.
1, Water supply: reverse osmosis water production
2, TEA (total exchangeable anion, calculated as CaCO): <35 ppm.
TEA includes all anions and substances that are removed by EDI in
an anionic form. Since CO2, SiO2 and HBO3 contained in water are
HCO2/CO2, HSiO/SiOg2- and B(OH).
The form is cleared by EDI, and when the TEA is calculated
empirically, the charges are -1.7, -1.5, and -1.0, respectively.
Some of the HCO3 in the feed water is also removed in the form of
CO2-, and the charge is also calculated in -1.7 when calculating
TEA. The TEA calculation formula is as follows:
TEA=50[Cc1/35.5 2Cs0*/96 1.7Cco/44 1.7Cco-/61 1.5Csi0/60
...J where all substance concentrations are in mg/L.
3, pH: 6.0-9.0 When the total hardness is less than 0.1ppm, the
optimal working pH range of EDI is 8.0~9.0.
The pH value is a reference indicator for water supply, and it is
one of the indicators that indirectly reflects the CO content of
the feed water.
4, temperature: 5-35
5, Inlet pressure: <0.4MPa (60psi).
The inlet pressure of the concentrated/polar water is generally
lower than the outlet pressure of the product water by 0.03-0.05
MPa.
6, Hardness (calculated as CaCO): <10.0 ppm.
Note: The EDI process requires a defined inlet hardness to avoid
fouling. The water hardness is less than 10.0
At the ppm, the CanpureTM Super EDI system has a water utilization
of 90%. Excessive pursuit of higher water utilization is of little
significance because the 100% concentrated water and polar water of
the EDI system can be reused before returning to reverse osmosis.
7, Organic matter (TOC): <0.5 ppm.
8, Oxidizer: Cl2<0.05ppm, O<0.02ppm.
9, Valence metal: Fe<0.01ppm, Mn<0.01ppm.
