Introudction

The PT-RD Safety valve is a pump through Rupture disk controlled safety valve, a single cycle safety valve for end of test operations as a shut off tool.

The valve can be converted to a PT-RD safety circulating valve is the circulating ports added, or remove the valve mechanism and add the circulating ports can be converted to a circulating valve.

The PT-RD safety valve functions as a safety valve, with pump through capabilities, the tool is functioned by increasing the applied annulus pressure so that the annulus pressure at the tool(hydrostatic plus applied) reaches a predetermined value at which point the RD will burst. When the tool is functioned, it closes a valve below the tool and establishes communication between the annulus and the workstring above the closed valve if the circulating ports added.

If the tool is placed above the gauge carrier, it also acts as a backup shut in tool for the final shut-in, minimizing wellbore storage during final pressure build up.
