• A ring eye bolt has a ring designed to receive a shackle, wire rope or other rigging products. Stainless steel type 304 is the material of choice for exterior or marine applications since stainless steel forms a passive layer of rust on the surface that does not accelerate to the core. The chromium element in stainless steel also allows the eye bolt to "repair itself" if the surface is scratched forming another passive layer to protect the core.
