The SN65C3243 and SN75C3243 contain three line drivers, five line receivers, and a dual charge pump circuit with pin-to-pin (serial port connection pins, including GND) ±15kV ESD protection. This device provides the electrical interface between the asynchronous communications controller and the serial port connector. The charge pump and four small external capacitors support operation from a single 3V to 5.5V supply. Additionally, the device includes an always-active non-inverting output (ROUT2B), which enables applications using ring indication to send data while the device is powered down. The device operates at data signaling rates up to 1Mbit/s with a higher slew rate range from 24 V/μs to 150V/μs.
