Vulcanizing machine press introduction:
I.Structure and Components
1. Curing Chamber: This is the core part of the 5-layer tread vulcanizer. There are
multiple layers of molds for placing the tread in the curing
chamber. It is generally made of high-strength metal materials and
can withstand the high temperature and high pressure during the
vulcanization process. The size of the curing chamber is designed
according to the size and number of layers of the tread to ensure
that each layer of the tread can complete the vulcanization
reaction in a suitable space.
2. Heating system: usually steam, hot plate or electric heating. For steam heating,
there is a special steam pipe connected to the heating plate of the
vulcanizer, and the heat of the steam is transferred to the mold
and tread. Hot plate heating uses internal heating elements, such
as resistance wires, to increase the temperature of the hot plate
and then transfer the heat to the tread. The electric heating
method has the characteristics of fast heating speed and precise
temperature control. The temperature is accurately controlled by
installing electric thermocouples in the mold or heating plate.
3. Pressure system: including hydraulic system or mechanical pressure system. The
hydraulic system transports hydraulic oil to the hydraulic cylinder
through a hydraulic pump to generate sufficient pressure on the
tread. The mechanical pressure system uses mechanical transmission
mechanisms, such as screws, nuts, etc., to convert the rotational
motion of the motor into linear motion, thereby applying pressure
to the tread. The size of the pressure can be adjusted according to
the material and process requirements of the tread, generally
between a few MPa and tens of MPa.
4. Control system: This is the key part to ensure the normal
operation of the vulcanizer. It can be an automated control system
based on PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) or a simple electrical
control system. The control system can accurately control
parameters such as vulcanization time, temperature and pressure.
The operator can enter parameters through the control panel, such
as vulcanization time can be accurate to seconds, temperature can
be accurate to degrees Celsius, and pressure can be accurate to
MPa. During the vulcanization process, the control system monitors
these parameters in real time and adjusts them according to the set
values.
II. Working principle
First, the unvulcanized tread is placed in the multi-layer mold of
the vulcanizer. When the vulcanizer is started, the heating system
starts to work, raising the temperature in the vulcanization
chamber to the temperature required for tread vulcanization, which
is generally between 140-180℃, depending on the formula of the
tread rubber. At the same time, the pressure system also starts to
apply pressure, which will act evenly on each layer of the tread
mold, usually in the range of 2-10MPa.
Under the appropriate temperature and pressure, the rubber
molecules in the tread react chemically with the vulcanizer, a
process called vulcanization. The vulcanization process cross-links
the molecular chains of the rubber, thereby changing the physical
and chemical properties of the rubber, such as improving the
hardness, wear resistance and elasticity of the rubber. The
vulcanization time varies depending on factors such as the
thickness of the tread and the rubber formula, and generally takes
a few minutes to tens of minutes. For example, for thicker treads
and rubber formulas containing special additives, the vulcanization
time may be longer.
After the vulcanization is completed, the pressure system and the
heating system will gradually stop working, the temperature of the
vulcanization chamber will decrease, and the pressure will be
released. Then the vulcanized treads can be taken out, and these
treads can be used for tire production or assembly of other rubber
products.
III.Application advantages
1. Improve production efficiency: The 5-layer tread vulcanizer can vulcanize 5 layers of tread at
the same time, which greatly improves production efficiency
compared to the single-layer vulcanizer. In industries that require
a large amount of treads, such as tire manufacturing, it is
possible to quickly provide vulcanized treads to meet the needs of
the production line.
Ensure product quality consistency: Since multiple layers of treads
are vulcanized simultaneously in the same vulcanizer, under the
same temperature, pressure, time and other parameter control, the
quality of each layer of tread can be guaranteed to be relatively
consistent. In this way, in subsequent processes such as tire
assembly, product quality problems caused by differences in tread
quality can be reduced.
2. Save space and energy: Compared with the use of multiple single-layer vulcanizers, the
5-layer tread vulcanizer occupies less space. Moreover, during the
heating process, since the overall structure of the vulcanization
chamber is relatively compact and the heat loss is relatively
small, energy can be saved to a certain extent.
