Melanin Bleaching Stain Baso Clear Colourful Stains for Healthcare
Facility
Testing Principle
Melanin appears as brownish-yellow or brown granules in unstained
or H&E-stained samples, which can easily be confused with
hemosiderin or lipofuscin. Therefore, melanin staining or melanin
bleaching is required for differentiation. This reagent uses a
melanin-bleaching method. Both hydrogen peroxide and potassium
permanganate are strong oxidizing agents that can break the
aromatic ring of melanin, causing it to lose its color. The
combination of these two agents shortens the reaction time, thereby
reducing damage to tissue cells caused by strong oxidizers.
Subsequently, oxalic acid is used for bleaching, achieving the goal
of melanin removal.
Stain Results
Compared to slide B, the component that has been removed in slide A
is melanin.
