Silicon carbon rods should be connected in parallel as much as
possible. If the resistance values of silicon carbide rods are
different, the high resistance silicon carbide rods in series will
concentrate the load, causing a rapid increase in the resistance of
one silicon carbide rod and a shorter lifespan
(1) The temperature distribution characteristics of silicon carbide
rods are considered qualified only when the inspection
specification for new shipments is within Δ 60 ℃ of the effective
heating length. Of course, the temperature distribution will
increase with aging and may eventually reach 200 ℃. The specific
temperature distribution changes also vary depending on the furnace
atmosphere and usage conditions.
(2) Silicon carbon rods have a shorter lifespan as the usage
temperature increases. Therefore, after the furnace temperature
exceeds 1400 ℃, the oxidation rate accelerates and the lifespan is
shortened. During use, it is important to avoid excessively high
surface temperatures on the silicon carbon rods.
