Due to differences in plating processes, the results of the PCT and
SST tests may vary. Barrel-plated products (smaller items) often
show better results in Salt Spray Tests compared to vapor-plated
products (larger items).
Salt Spray Test (SST) Conditions: 5% Sodium Chloride solution,
35°C, Continuous spray. No corrosion should be observed on the
coating surface following the test.
Pressure Cooking Test (PCT) Conditions: 2 atmospheres, 95% Relative
Humidity, 121°C. This test evaluates the adhesion strength of the
coating.
Some coatings, such as Zinc, Phosphated/Passivated, and Epoxy, are
not recommended for PCT testing due to their specific properties.
Various methods are used to test coating quality, including drop
tests, cross-hatch tests, thermal shock tests, and constant
temperature and humidity tests. These ensure the durability and
reliability of the coatings under different environmental
conditions.
