Sodium Lignonsulphonate :


A small amount of additives must be added to the negative activation substance of lead-acid battery, which is called expansion agent. Expansion agent has two aspects of the role: (1) can prevent the negative active material due to large specific surface area, thermodynamic instability, recrystallization in the process of charging and discharging, so that the specific surface area is constantly reduced, so that the negative active material loss of porosity and capacity decline, ultimately leading to battery failure; ② Depassivation under high rate discharge, low temperature and high acid concentration. The use of expansion agent can obviously increase the cycle charge and discharge times of the battery, improve the low temperature discharge capacity of the tube battery, improve the charge acceptance capacity, increase the negative active material surface area and stabilize its structure.


Sodium lignosulfonate is a widely used organic expansion agent.


The active material of lead-acid battery electrode is composed of lead compound or metal lead particles as the skeleton, which is surrounded by pores of various shapes. When the battery is charged and discharged, it is filled with electrolyte in the pores. The pores of active substances are the migration channel of electrolyte, which determines the existence state, quantity and proportion of electrolytic liquid phase. The number, shape and arrangement of pores directly affect the performance of the battery. In lead-acid batteries, on the one hand, sodium lignosulfonate combines with lead ions in solution to form lead lignosulfonate, which makes lead lignosulfonate molecules coagitate and cement together. On the other hand, lignosulfonic acid is adsorbed on the surface of PbO particles, promoting the adhesion and agglomeration of lead oxide particles, and finally forming a stable aggregation structure with certain pores, which ensures the charge-discharge performance of the battery.
