follow AS1397 G550 Grade

Aluzinc, Zincalume and Galvalume are different trade names of one product. Aluzinc is cold rolled galvanized steel with metal coating composed of Aluminium (55%), Zinc (43.4%) and Silicon (1.6%). It is formable, weldable and readily accepts paint finishes.

Applications:

  • Wall Framing
  • Floor Joists
  • Roof Trusses

Light gauge steel is a straighter, lighter, termite proof & fire-resistant way of construction as compared to traditional timber frames. We proudly utilise high quality steel that is compliant to Australian Standards.

Top Benefits of Light Gauge Steel Trusses

Light gauge steel trusses, also known as cold-formed steel trusses, are made from high-quality sheet steel fashioned into different shapes by roll forming. And they’re not just a pretty face in the construction industry; light gauge steel trusses have emerged as a game-changer, revolutionizing how structures are built. Offering many benefits, these trusses have become a preferred choice for architects, engineers, and builders.

Surface Treatment

Description

Advantages

Disadvantages

ChromatedA layer of chromate coating is applied.- Excellent corrosion resistance- Enhanced paint adhesion- Contains hexavalent chromium (environmental concerns)- Requires additional safety measures
Non-ChromatedUses alternative chemicals to provide corrosion resistance.- Environmentally friendly- Good corrosion resistance- May have slightly lower corrosion resistance than chromated
OiledA thin layer of oil is applied to the surface.- Temporary corrosion protection- Facilitates further processing- Needs to be removed before painting or further coating
DryNo additional surface treatment after the coating process.- Cost-effective- Ready for immediate use in some applications- Limited corrosion protection
Anti-FingerprintSpecial coating to prevent fingerprint marks and smudges.- Maintains aesthetic appearance- Provides additional corrosion protection- May increase production cost
PhosphatedA phosphate conversion coating is applied to enhance adhesion.- Excellent paint adhesion- Additional corrosion resistance- Additional processing step- Environmental considerations for disposal
PassivatedA passivation layer is applied to enhance corrosion resistance.- Good initial corrosion resistance- Cost-effective- May not be as effective as chromated coatings in harsh environments
Painted/Pre-paintedA layer of paint is applied over the Aluzinc coating.- Aesthetic flexibility- Enhanced corrosion protection- Higher production cost- Paint may degrade over time

Proper storage of Aluzinc steel coils during the rainy season is essential to prevent corrosion and maintain the quality of the material. Here are the guidelines and precautions for storing Aluzinc steel coils during wet weather:

Storage Guidelines

1. Indoor Storage:

- Warehouse Environment: Store the coils in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse to protect them from rain and high humidity.

- Elevation: Place the coils on elevated platforms or pallets to keep them off the ground and prevent contact with water.

- Temperature and Humidity Control: Maintain a stable temperature and humidity level inside the warehouse to prevent condensation on the coils.

2. Outdoor Storage:

- Covering: If indoor storage is not possible, cover the coils with waterproof tarpaulins or plastic sheets. Ensure that the covers are tightly secured to prevent water ingress.

- Proper Ventilation: Leave some space for air circulation under the covers to avoid moisture buildup and condensation.

- Inclination: Store the coils at a slight incline to facilitate water runoff and prevent pooling on the surface.

3. Packing:

- Sealed Packaging: Use moisture-resistant packaging materials to wrap the coils tightly. Consider vacuum-sealing or using desiccants inside the packaging to absorb any residual moisture.

- Edge Protection: Apply edge protectors to the coils to prevent damage during handling and storage.
