The Cat7 cable is a high-end patch cord that provides the core infrastructure for a wired 10 Gigabit Ethernet setup.It is an 8-core shielded wire, each pair has a shield (usually Al Foil Shield), and then there is a shield outside the 8 cores (usually a metal braided wire mesh shield), the interface is the same as RJ-45. In 2002, the Cat7 cabling standard was approved, allowing 10 Gigabit Ethernet Cat7 cables to be routed in copper. The maximum length of the Cat.7 is the same as that of the Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A, with a maximum distance of 328 feet (100 meters).

Cat.7 wire has four pairs of shielded twisted pair copper wire and integral cable shield. This helps it meet stringent standards for signal loss over distance and ensures that Cat7 cables are better protected against performance degradation that can result from crosstalk and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
