PTFE membranes are used in a variety of healthcare applications such as the venting in IV filters,spike vents and transducer protectors, protecting medical devices, equipments and sensors from fluids , aqueous aerosols and contamination.
PTFE membranes are naturally hydrophobic with excellent chemical resistance, making them the ideal choice for sterile venting of air and gases, non-aqueous solvents, acids, and aggressive fluids. In the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, PTFE membranes are used in filtration of strong acids and aggressive solutions, venting of gases. PTFE membrane filters are also used for the filtration of corrosive solvents and acids, to which other filter types are not resistant because of its excellent chemical compatibility with pH tolerance ranging from 1 to 14.
