Knitted Wire Mesh Tape Knitted Mesh Fabric For Providing EMI/RFI
Shielding
Knitted wire mesh tape is produced as a two-ply flattened cylinder
of varying widths, loop spacings, wire sizes and metals. Knitted
wire mesh tape is specially designed for shielding and grounding of
cables and electronic cable assemblies. The fine metal wire is
knitted into a sleeve with continuous inter-linked loops, and then
it can be directly rolled up, or it can be rolled onto a plastic
and paper reel.
The knitted wire mesh tape has excellent flexibility and conforms
easily to irregular and complex surfaces. Due to its excellent
shielding properties, it is widely used in EMI/RFI shielding of
power, data and communication cables and grounding continuity of
cable joints. It is designed to wrap easily (50% overlap
recommended) around cables and harnesses, and will reduce corona
discharge in addition to providing EMI shielding.
Knitted mesh tape are available in various materials, mainly
stainless steel, copper, Monel, nickel and other alloy metals.
These materials have corrosion resistance and high-temperature
resistance. Under rising temperatures, the wire’s knitted loops
enlarge into each other instead of bulging away from wrapped
surfaces, as do straight wires of woven mesh.
