Classification and braking effect of brake disc
Disc brake disc is divided into solid disc (single disc) and air
duct disc (double disc), perforated ventilation disc, scribed
ventilation disc, floating ventilation disc and ceramic ventilation
disc. Solid disks are easy for us to understand. Frankly, it is
solid. As the name suggests, the air duct board has ventilation
effect. From the appearance, it has many holes leading to the
center of the circle on the circumference, which is called air
duct. When the vehicle is running, the air passes through the air
duct to achieve the purpose of heat dissipation, which is better
than the solid heat dissipation effect.
Drilled brake disc
The main purpose of punching the perforated brake disc is to have a
stronger heat dissipation effect. Higher intensity braking will
lead to a sharp increase in the temperature of the brake disc, so
more air flow is required for heat dissipation. The effect of
ventilation disc alone can not be satisfied. Generally, when multi
piston brake caliper is used, more efficient perforated ventilation
disc is required.
Ventilated brake disc
The ventilated brake disc is ventilated and can play a better heat
dissipation effect than the solid disc. The side of an ordinary
ventilation disc is as flat as a solid disc. The ventilation holes
can be seen in the longitudinal direction, and the structure inside
is intricate and alternating, because it is necessary to ensure the
heat flow and the rigidity of the brake disc at the same time.
Casting standard of brake disc
As for the casting standard of brake disc, the brake disc material
on the Chinese market mainly adopts the Chinese gray cast iron 250
standard, referred to as HT250, which is equivalent to the American
G3000 standard. Gray cast iron has good casting performance,
vibration damping, wear resistance, good cutting performance and
low notch sensitivity, and has been widely used in the automotive
brake Market, The main constituent elements of gray cast iron are
carbon C, silicon Si and manganese Mn. The important standard for
testing brake discs is carbon content, which directly affects the
friction coefficient. At present, the carbon content of ordinary
brake discs on the market is about 3% .
Why does the brake disc rust and the solution
The brake disc is exposed to the sun and rain for a long time, and
the working environment is poor. Especially if it is parked for a
long time, it is easy to generate some rust on the surface, which
is a normal phenomenon and there is no need to fight. We can remove
rust by continuous braking during driving on the road of safe
driving, because the disc brake is braked by the friction between
the brake caliper and the brake pad, and the rust can be worn off
under multiple braking. However, if the brake disc is seriously
rusted, this method is not applicable. If forced braking, the brake
pedal and steering wheel will feel obvious vibration. In this case,
we need to go to the maintenance shop for treatment or replace the
brake disc.
Daily maintenance method of brake disc
The brake disc will generate a lot of heat when braking, so don't
wash the car immediately after braking. Turn off the engine to
reduce the surface temperature of the brake disc and prevent the
high-temperature brake disc from deforming and cracking due to
thermal expansion and contraction in contact with cold water.
In addition, the best way to improve the service life of the brake
disc is to maintain good driving habits and try to avoid sudden
braking and sudden stop.
How to judge that the brake disc needs to be replaced?
1. Observe the brake disc warning light to judge: normally, the
brake disc indicator light is off. When the brake disc is faulty or
excessively worn, the light will be on and off after repair. When
the warning light is on, the brake disc has been worn to the limit,
and the braking effect has decreased, which greatly affects the
driving safety. Therefore, we suggest to regularly check the wear
condition of the brake disc to see whether it can be used, rather
than just trust the warning light.
2. Check the thickness of the brake disc: most brake disc products
have wear indicators, that is, three small pits will be distributed
on the disc surface. Measure the depth of the small pit with a
vernier caliper, which is 1.5mm. In other words, the total wear
depth on both sides of the brake disc reaches 3mm. In case of quasi
wear and complete wear as shown in the figure below, we recommend
replacing the brake disc in time
3. Listen to the sound: if the light braking is accompanied by the
silky sound or roar of "iron rubbing iron" (it may also be the
effect of running in of the brake pad at the beginning of
installation), the brake pad must be replaced immediately. Because
the limit marks on both sides of the brake pad have directly rubbed
the brake disc, it proves that the brake pad has exceeded the
limit.
