What is mirror finish on stainless steel?
On stainless steel, a mirror finish is a highly-polished commercial
finish characterised by a bright, shiny and reflective surface.
You'll most commonly find it in aesthetic pieces, such as public
architecture, tapes and furniture.
How to Polish Metal to a Mirror Finish
- Begin by sanding the surface with a coarse sandpaper, around a 40 grit. Either sand the surface by hand, or using a sanding tool.
- Use a sisal mop to apply a buffing compound, usually in grey or brown.
- Replace the material on the buffing wheel with a white stitched mop.
