Centrifugal concentrator has been used for decades in China, not
only for separating tin and tungsten ore slime, but also for
treating lean iron ore. The specifications of the centrifuge were
changed from the original φ 800 mm × 600 mm to 600 mm φ 1600 mm ×
900 mm, and is designing and manufacturing larger and continuous
discharge centrifuges.
Centrifugal concentrator is also called centrifugal chute. There
are many kinds of centrifuges, but their structures are basically
the same. When the centrifuge rotates at high speed, it produces
great centrifugal force to strengthen the gravity separation
process, so that the fine ore particles can be recovered more
effectively. Its emergence successfully solves the full recovery of
fine particles. Therefore, it is widely used to recover slimes such
as tungsten, tin and iron.
The main advantages of centrifugal concentrator are large
processing capacity, low lower limit of recovery particle size,
stable operation and easy operation; But its enrichment ratio is
not high.

The drum of the centrifugal concentrator rotates at a high speed
with a certain number of revolutions, and the ore slurry is sent to
the inner wall of the drum through the ore feeding nozzle in two
places. The slurry rotates with the drum at a high speed. Under the
action of centrifugal force, heavy minerals are deposited on the
inner wall of the drum and rotate with the drum. The light mineral
particles in the slurry rotate with the drum at a certain
differential speed. In the process of rotation, they rotate and
flow from the ore feeding end to the ore discharge end along the
slope direction of the drum at a certain spiral angle, and are
discharged through the ore discharge separator at the end, which is
tailings. After 3min separation, the ore feeding separator will
automatically turn to the concentrate discharge position and stop
feeding into the drum. After the tailings are discharged, the ore
discharging separator will automatically turn away from the
original normal position to intercept the concentrate, and then the
high-pressure flushing water valve will automatically open. The
high-pressure flushing water will flush the concentrate deposited
on the inner wall of the drum. After the concentrate is flushed,
the high-pressure water valve will automatically close. After the
concentrate is discharged, The ore discharge separator and ore
feeding separator are reset automatically to start the next
separation cycle.
The structural factors of centrifugal concentrator mainly include
the diameter, length and half cone angle of the drum. Increasing
the diameter of the drum can increase the production capacity of
the equipment in direct proportion; Increasing the length of the
drum can greatly improve the production capacity of the equipment,
but unfortunately, the lower limit of the recycled particle size
will also rise. Increasing the half cone angle of the drum can
improve the quality of high-density products, but the recovery will
be reduced accordingly. In order to solve this contradiction,
centrifugal concentrators with double taper, three taper and even
four taper have been developed successively.
The operation factors of centrifugal concentrator mainly include
feed concentration, feed volume, drum speed, feed time and
separation cycle. When the same material is processed by
centrifugal concentrators of different specifications, the feed
volume per unit drum wall area should be approximately equal, and
the feed concentration should increase with the increase of drum
length; When the same equipment is used to treat different
materials, the influence of feed concentration and volume is the
same as other chute equipment. The rotational speed of the drum is
approximately inversely proportional to the square root of the
product of the drum diameter and length. Increasing the rotating
speed in a certain range can improve the recovery, but the quality
of high-density products is reduced due to the poor stratification
effect.
