Purpose

Develop blood fingerprints on light-colored surface. Applicable to both porous and non-porous materials.

Working principle

The heme in the blood causes the hydrogen peroxide to release elemental oxygen, which oxygen oxidizes TMB to produce green-blue color, namely, the color of the developed prints.

Description

The solution is composed of solution A, TMB dissolved in ethanol, and solution B, hydrogen peroxide. Solution A and solution B are sealed in separate ampules, which are placed into one plastic tube to form one set of reagent. This method ensures that the reagent remains effective for several years. If TMB, ethanol and hydrogen peroxide are mixed together, the solution will be ineffective after a few hours.

Method

Crush the ampules with a special pliers or hammer, then the solution flows out to form the working solution in the plastic tube. Cut the top of the plastic tube with scissors, drop the solution on the absorbent cotton, hold the cotton with tweezers and gently rub the blood fingerprint, which will occur quickly with a blue-black color.

Development effect

The TMB development method is currently the most sensitive method for blood fingerprint development. And it’s applicable to both porous and non-porous materials. The TMB sealed with ampules saves the trouble of on-site solution preparation.
