Rib Drum Rubber Fender (also known as "rib-type rubber fender") is a common port anti-collision equipment. Its design significantly improves its impact resistance and durability by embedding reinforcing ribs (usually metal or high-strength fiber materials) on the surface or inside of the rubber fender. The following are its main advantages:
Rib-reinforced structure: The internal metal or fiber skeleton greatly improves the tensile and shear resistance of the fender, can absorb the impact energy of larger ships, and is suitable for large docks or high-energy impact scenarios.
Stress dispersion: The rib-reinforced structure effectively disperses collision stress, reduces the risk of local deformation or tearing, and prolongs service life.
Anti-wear: The rubber outer layer is combined with rib support to resist ship friction, seawater erosion and ultraviolet aging, and is suitable for long-term use in harsh environments.
Good fatigue resistance: The resilience is stable after repeated compression and is not easy to deform permanently.
Multiple installation methods: can be designed as hanging, embedded or fixed, suitable for different dock structures and ship types.
Flexible specifications: the number and layout of ribs can be adjusted according to needs, and different energy absorption levels can be customized (such as from small and medium to ultra-large ships).
Self-repairing: The rubber material has a certain self-repairing ability for minor scratches, and the tendon structure prevents the internal damage from expanding.
Easy to inspect: Surface damage or exposed tendons are easy to detect, which facilitates timely maintenance.
No pollution: Rubber materials have no chemical pollution to seawater and meet environmental protection requirements.
High cost performance: Although the initial cost may be higher than ordinary rubber fenders, the long life and low maintenance cost make its overall benefits better.
Smooth buffering: The energy absorption process is gentle, reducing the rebound of the ship and the secondary damage to the dock and the hull.
Fireproof design: Some products can be added with flame retardants to improve fire safety.
Large ports: container terminals, tanker berths and other high-impact areas.
Large tidal range or harsh environment: rib structure adapts to water level changes and extreme weather.
Special vessels: such as warships, liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships and other occasions that require high safety standards.
Compared with pure rubber fenders: stronger tear resistance and load-bearing capacity.
Compared with steel fenders: lighter, corrosion-resistant and hull-friendly.
