Rough Lab Grown Diamonds Description

What is a lab-grown diamond?
Lab diamonds are real diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds after polishing and cutting are no different from natural diamonds.
The environment in which diamonds grow in the laboratory is different from that of natural diamonds. Natural diamonds come from the earth, and laboratory-grown diamonds do not grow on the earth, but grow in the laboratory.
Similarly, laboratory-grown diamonds are as hard as natural diamonds. Both lab diamonds and natural diamonds can emit the same light, have the same color and clarity, and can have the same size and shape.
Carbon is the main element of natural and laboratory-grown diamonds. The only chemical difference between laboratory-grown diamonds and natural diamonds is that most natural diamonds contain trace amounts of nitrogen, while laboratory diamonds do not. The lack of nitrogen is a way for gemologists to identify lab diamonds from natural diamonds.
Beginning in the 1930s, scientists discovered that certain types of diamonds have similar characteristics, so they divided diamonds into two categories based on the difference in transparency under ultraviolet radiation: Type I and Type II. Subsequently, the scientists further divided type I and type II diamonds into two sub-categories: type Ia, type Ib, type IIa and type IIb through the arrangement of carbon atoms and impurity atoms in the diamond structure.

By 1959, scientists discovered that the main chemical impurity in diamonds was nitrogen, which is contained in type I diamonds, but not contained in type II diamonds. Using infrared spectroscopy can quickly determine the type of diamond.

Most natural diamonds are type Ia. Type Ia diamonds contain abundant nitrogen in clusters or pairs. Type Ib diamonds contain unpaired or clustered scattered nitrogen atoms, which are rare in natural diamonds. Type IIa diamond contains almost no nitrogen. The IIb diamond contains boron atoms. Most synthetic diamonds are of type Ib, IIa and IIb.

Rough Lab Grown Diamonds Introduction

Lab Grown Diamond is a crystal diamond made of diamond crystals with a diameter of 10 to 30 nanometers. In the early stage, man-made diamonds showed a light color of sugar due to the nitrogen atoms in the air entering into the diamond crystal. Through the improved production method of scientists, there is no difference between man-made diamonds and natural diamonds in appearance now.
