About SpO2 parameter

The SpO2 parameter is suitable for continuous, non-invasive monitoring of functional oxygen saturation and provides pulse rate data as part of the CARESCAPE V100 vital signs monitor. Unless otherwise stated, this device is not designed, sold or intended for use.

The V100 monitor's SpO2 settings are available with three different cutting-edge technologies: Ohmeda TruSignal, Nellcor and Masima SET. Check the front of the monitor to see what SpO2 technology the monitor includes. If the monitor includes this setting, the SpO2 Technology logo is located on the front of the monitor.

The V100 monitor uses Masima SET pulse oximetry technology for continuous, non-invasive monitoring of functional oxygen saturation (SpO2) of arterial blood. Functional SpO2 is the ratio between oxygenated hemoglobin and hemoglobin capable of transporting oxygen. This ratio is expressed as a percentage and is displayed in the SpO2 window and is constantly updated.

Heart rate relative to SpO2 is displayed in the heart rate window. The sounds are emitted at a frequency corresponding to the pulse rate and at a pitch corresponding to the SpO2 saturation. The pitch is highest at 100% oxygen saturation and decreases as saturation decreases. The monitor displays a pulse amplitude bar. A bar graph of pulse amplitude is proportional to arterial blood flow.

This setting is automatically enabled when the sensor is connected to the display. Audible and visual alarms sound when SpO2 exceeds alarm limits. In the case of a parameter status alarm code, an alarm message is displayed in the SpO2 window.

SpO2 related configuration settings

There are three configuration settings for this parameter: averaging time (n0d), FastSAT (Sat), and sensitivity mode (Sen). Averaging time (n0d) allows you to select the number of seconds to average SpO2 data. Choose between 4 and 16 in steps of 2 (the alarm is delayed by this amount).

For FastSAT (Saturday), you can select 0 (off) or 1 (on). If FastSAT is set to 1 (enabled), SpO2 values are calculated faster. The Sensitivity Mode (Sen) parameter allows you to set the threshold value for calculating SpO2 values under low perfusion conditions. Select 1 (Maximized Low Perfusion), 2 (Low Perfusion - Standard), or 3 (Adaptive Probe Disabled).

SpO2 related buttons

There are no buttons associated with this setting.

SpO2 related windows

There is a window for this parameter: SpO2. In offline mode, nothing is displayed in the SpO2 window. In sleep mode, when the setting detects that the sensor is connected, a dash (-) will appear in the window. In mode and settings display valid data, the derived SpO2 values are displayed in this window and are continually updated. Values are displayed in %
