A high voltage resistor is a resistor with a high resistance value
that can withstand high voltages. It is usually composed of
materials such as metal oxides, ceramics or carbon, and the
restriction of high potential is achieved through the special
properties of these materials. High-voltage resistors can be used
in AC or DC circuits to ensure normal operation of circuits in
high-voltage working environments.
The main function of a high voltage resistor is to limit the
current flow at high voltage, thus protecting other components from
damage. In power systems, high-voltage resistors are often used to
prevent overvoltage or overcurrent from damaging equipment. In
radar systems, high-voltage resistors are used to couple radar
signals to the antenna while ensuring the stable operation of the
radar system.
There are many types and structures of high-voltage resistors, such as carbon film resistors, metal oxide resistors, metal film resistors, etc. Generally speaking, high-voltage resistors have high resistivity and high dielectric strength of the material itself, so they can work stably in harsh environments such as high voltage, high temperature, and high humidity. In addition, high-voltage resistors also need to have sufficient insulation capabilities and moisture-proof properties to avoid breakdown under high-voltage electric fields. If there are special requirements, it must also have characteristics such as anti-high frequency, anti-interference, overload, and fire protection.
The reasons may include:
1. The electrode spacing is too large and the contact is not close.
2. The electrodes fit improperly, such as wrinkles or height differences.
3. The electrode coating layer is broken or damaged.
4. The conductive glue of the electrode is contaminated.
5. The electrode connecting wire or plug is loose and damaged.
