Fire damaged steel building
The brief was to reclad the fire damaged steel building. The
estates office for Nottingham university had a barn that had been
fire damaged after a stack of hay and straw caught fire. The
building was reduced to two bays with just the columns and trusses
remaining for the other two bays.
The solution
The idea was to reinstate the building with the same specification.
This included a fibre cement roof, timber purlin and sheeting rails
and side cladding in steel corrugated sheets with timber boarding
on the front and a new gutter front and back.
