Piezoelectric transducers make use of the deformation characteristics of piezoelectric materials under the action of an electric field, by the inverse piezoelectric effect, the transducers are thus made. First, make the piezoelectric material into the plate shape, the upper and bottom surfaces of the plate are coated with silver color as the electrode, then process the plate with extra polarization treatment and add the electric field between the electrodes of the two pieces of the plate which will lead two possible phenomena:

1.The applied electric field is in the same direction as the polarization of the piezoelectric plate, which increases the polarization intensity of the piezoelectric plate, then it furthermore lengthens the piezoelectric plate along the direction of polarization.

2. The applied electric field is in the opposite direction as the polarization of the piezoelectric plate, which decreases the polarization intensity of the piezoelectric plate, then it, however, shrinks the piezoelectric plate along the direction of polarization.

With these two phenomena, when the applied electric field is replaced by an alternating electric field, the piezoelectric plate will produce deformation as the alternating electric field at the same frequency, thus, the two sides of the piezoelectric plate radiate ultrasound wave outwards. When the frequency of the applied electric field is the same as the natural frequency of the piezoelectric plate, the vibration of the piezoelectric plate is the largest and the radiation is the most intense.
