hardness of common aluminum alloy is below HRC 40 degree, which is
a low hardness compared with titanium alloy and other quenching
steel, therefore, when milling aluminum alloy, the end mill load is
small. And because of the good thermal conductivity of aluminum
alloy, the temperature of milling is low, so the milling speed can
be very high. 2. Should solve the chip sticking problem. The
plasticity and melting point of aluminum alloy are low. When
milling the aluminum alloy, the chip sticking end mill problem is
serious, which cause a poor removal performance and the coarse
milling surface. End mill for aluminum should solve those two
problems by end mill carbide grades selection, coating and flute
design. Aluminum end mills often made to be 3 flutes, in few
situations, 2 flute ball nose end mill or 4 flute flat end mill may
be applied. No coating, DLC coating or AD coating. 3. Select proper
carbide grade for aluminum end mills. For the chip sticking
problem, Betalent use carbide grade BT50 as carbide material, 10%
cobalt content, not too hard or too soft. 4,Increase relief angle
to get a larger chip groove,reduce the chip sticking.
