zinc oxide surge arrester with composite cover is used to protect 10.5kv -- 220 kv power system from harms caused by lightning and operating voltage.

They are connected in parellel with compensation capacitor group, generators, motors, switchgear, electrified railway, switch cabinet and other combination of electrical substation equipment to protect the equipment from harms caused by lightning and operating voltage.
