The submersible slurry pump is well used for drilling mud transfer
from mud pit to mud equipment or mud storage tank. Vertical design
allows mud suction point installed into drilling mud and all
bearings is above fluids to make pump free maintenance. A
protection cover fixed on mud suction point to stop solids or
larger particles being sucked into pump.
For pump feeding centrifuge, we need to consider the centrifuge
flow rate. For pump feeding shaker in the HDD mud system we should
consider the whole mud system flow rate. And then the submersible
length is another issue affect configuration or design. We can
supply pump meet submersible depth up to 3m. How to achieve this?
By extension pipe connected to input port.
If pump installs onto mud tank, there is a level plate on pump
under motor, the plate is designed to bolted on tank top. The pump
can be installed into mud pit as well with a builted simple
platform to bolt pump level plate. The vertical design is maximized
to reduce it’s footprint especially when it’s installed on tank
top.

Self suction design is maximum increased pump efficiency. The
submersible pump is a high effective pump compares centrifugal
pump, screw pump, diaphragm pump or multiple centrifugal pump. All
bearings above fluids makes pump free maintenance nearly zero cost
for spares. Depth from level plate to pump suction point is
customized from 1.0 to 1.8 meters. Standard depth 1.3 meters
without special request.
The submersible slurry pump is another kind of centrifugal pump.
But it's more durable and strong than common pump. It can transfer
many different kind of hard materials, including sand, cement,
particles, shale and so on. So, it meets many requirements in
different industries. The main structure including impeller, pump
case, shaft, bearing, motor, supporting frame and so on.
Handling capacity is from 30m³/h to 120m³/h. The pump performance
including flow rate, head, pressure. They will affect each other on
the performance.
Drilling fluids is transferred to desilter cones by centrifugal
pump from the desander tank or compartment. Desilter cone is fed by
desilter pump with fluids out of desander. Under pump pressure the
fluids run into cones and flow with centrifugal force. Then the
heavy particlas will deposit down and pushed out of cone drop in
Apex. Particles larger than 15 microns will be separated out of
drilling mud.
For HDD and other mud system in civil construction, the slurry pump
can be set over mud pit on a frame or support bar. Pump inlet port
is submerged in pit or tank to transfer drilling mud into shaker.
While in oil drilling mud system, the slurry pump will be set on
desilter tank or compartment. If we have 2 sets of centrifuge, then
2 sets of slurry pump requested. For some users, they prefer the
screw pump, since screw pump is progressive pump. But the
submersible slurry pump is more durable and high-resistance to sand
or cuttings in the drilling fluids. Moreover, the bearing and
connection part between motor and pump body is above liquid level,
so there is no need to maintain the pump. Higher efficiency and
lower cost.
