Round drill rod is used extensively for heavy excavation. Compared with the hexagonal rods of the same diameter, the round rods have less material and lighter weight, and are relatively low in operation and cost. The hexagonal rods have significant advantages in light tunneling and tunneling, and their hardness is enhanced to make the holes more straight, to wash holes and to drain slag better. Although the cross section is larger, it is also used with a drill head of the same drill diameter as a round rod of the same size.
