What is 440 stainless steel?
The carbon content and hardness of 440A-440B-440C are gradually increased from A-B-C (A-0.75%, B-0.9%, C-1.2%). 440C is an excellent high-end stainless steel, and its hardness usually reaches 56-58RC. 400 Series-Ferritic and Martensitic Stainless Steel
409—The cheapest model (British and American), usually used as automobile exhaust pipe, is a ferritic stainless steel (chrome steel).
410—Martensite (high-strength chromium steel), has good wear resistance and poor corrosion resistance.

440—High-strength cutting tool steel, which contains slightly higher carbon, can obtain higher yield strength after appropriate heat treatment, and hardness can reach 58HRC, which is among the hardest stainless steels.
