Metal tower structured and random packing key internals of packed
tower
Structured packing is a kind of packing arranged and stacked in accordance with
uniform geometry in the tower. The geometry of the whole tower
section is regular, symmetrical and uniform, and the gas-liquid
flow path is specified, which reduces the phenomenon of channel
flow and wall flow, and the pressure drop can be very small. Under
the same energy cost and pressure drop, it can provide more
specific surface area than random packing, and achieve higher mass
transfer and heat transfer efficiency in the same volume. At the
same time, due to the uniformity, regularity and symmetry of its
structure, when it has the same specific surface area as random
packing, its void ratio and flux is larger, and its comprehensive
processing capacity is much larger than tray tower and random
packing tower. After careful design, manufacture, installation and
operation of tower internals (such as gas-liquid distributor), the
industrial amplification effect is not obvious. In recent decades,
structured packing has been widely used in many towers in fine
chemical industry, perfume industry, oil refining, fertilizer,
petrochemical industry and other fields.
Our company mainly produces and supplies two kinds of metal
structured packing, corrugated orifice plate structured packing and wire mesh structured packing.
Corrugated plate structured packing has the advantages of large flux, small resistance, high
efficiency, low cost and strong anti plugging ability. 250Y type corrugated packing is the first one developed and applied
in industrial production, which reflects the excellent performance of corrugated packing.
It has good separation ability and wide operation range. It can
replace the general tower and revamp the old tower to extend the
service life. 250Y type packing is widely used in many towers of chemical
industry, oil refining, gas purification and other industries (such as ethylbenzene, styrene, aromatics, tall oil, methanol,
ethanol, quench tower, atmospheric and vacuum distillation tower,
natural gas drying, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide absorption
and analysis tower, ethylene oxide absorption and analysis tower,
acrylonitrile absorption tower, etc.).

Wire mesh structured packing has a high specific surface area, at the same time, because of the
unique capillary effect of the mesh, the packing surface has better
wettability, so it has a high separation efficiency. Compared with
other types of packing, it has lower pressure drop and less liquid
holding, and is especially suitable for materials hard to separate
and heat sensitive systems. The main materials for making wire
gauze packing are stainless steel, copper, aluminum, iron, nickel,
etc. According to the specific surface area, the wire mesh packing
can be divided into 250 type, 500 type and 700 type. Because the
wire mesh packing belongs to the type of liquid film mass transfer,
the key to maintain high separation efficiency is to make holes in
the corrugated packing sheet or to make a double-layer wire mesh
packing to strengthen the uniform distribution of liquid on the
wire mesh corrugated sheet, especially when the spray density is
low.

1. The data are based on 0.12mm wire, stainless steel material.
Applicable temperature (-200—400)℃. 0.15mm and 0.17mm wire are also
available.
2. Metal wire mesh corrugated packing is suitable for clean
gas-liquid system without solid particles or suspended solids or
not easy to self-assemble.
