The 1746-OA16 is an SLC 500 Digital AC Output Module with an operating voltage of 85 to 265 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. It has 16 outputs with 8 points per common group. It requires a backplane current load of 0.37 Amps at 5 Volts DC and it has a maximum signal delay of 1 millisecond in the on-state and 11 milliseconds in the off-state. The 1746-OA16 has maximum continuous current per point and per module of 0.5 Amps and 8 Amps respectively at 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) and of 0.25 Amps and 4 Amps, respectively at 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). It is used in the general-purpose 120 to 240 Volts AC outputs of SLC 500 systems. The 1746-OA16 module receives and stores digitally-converted analog data in its data image table where it can be retrieved by all modular and fixed SLC 500 processors. It supports connections from up to 8 sensors or actuators.

The 1746-OA16 comes with removable terminal blocks that eliminate the need to disconnect wires when replacing any of the modules. The 1746-OA16 also includes filter circuitry and optical coupling for signal noise reduction. The 1746-OA16 module’s output values can be accessed by SLC 500 processors using Ladder Logic. Troubleshooting is made easier with the LED indicators that show output status values. The SLC 500 system uses a sharing-based hardware platform which includes several combinations of digital and analog I/O, saving costs and space. The 1746-OA16 is intended for use in an environment with a 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) operating temperature range and 5 to 95% noncondensing relative humidity.
