Large Size Seawater Desalination RO System Water Desalination Equipment
What is the Seawater Desalination RO System?
The core process of desalination is the Reverse Osmosis Process,
mainly used to treat the salty water with high TDS more than
10000ppm. It consists of a High pressure pump followed by an Energy
Recovery device and the Reverse Osmosis Membranes.
In this process sea water is forced against semi-permeable
membranes under pressure in a continuous flow condition. The high
salt content of sea water requires that the operating pressure for
Reverse Osmosis must be between 60-70 bar. As the water permeates
through the membrane most of the dissolved impurities removed and
99.5% of the total salt is removed. The impurities are left behind
in the flowing water and the concentrated stream from the membranes
is discharged to the ocean.
Working Process of Seawater Desalination RO System
Raw water pump→ mechanical filter(quartz sand filter)→ activated
carbon filter→sodium-ion exchanger
(water softener)→ security filter→ high pressure pump →Reverse
osmosis→ Ozone sterilizer (UV sterilizer)
How a Reverse Osmosis System Works?
Reverse osmosis (R/O) is a water treatment process in which water
is forced through a semi-permeable membrane that has very small
holes or "pores". RO performs a separation without a phase change.
Thus, the energy requirements are low.RO systems are compact, and
space requirements are less than with other desalting systems, e.g.
distillation.
Reverse Osmosis works by using a high pressure pump to increase the
pressure on the salt side of the RO and force the water across the
semi-permeable RO membrane, leaving almost all (around 95% to 99%)
of dissolved salts behind in the reject stream.
Reverse Osmosis Membrane Element
It is mainly responsible for removing soluble salts, colloids,
organic matter and microorganisms in water. It can remove more than
97% of ions in water, and can also effectively remove TOC and
endotoxin, with a TOC removal rate of 90%.
RO Water Treatment Plant Consumables Replacement Cycle
1. Quartz sand. Performance life span is 3 years;
2. Activated carbon: 2 years;
3. Resin: 1 years;
4. PP Filter cartridge: 6 months;
5. RO membrane: 24 months
3 Signs You Need to Replace Your Water Filter or Cartridges
1. Check the pressure difference between the front and rear
pressure gauges
2. Drop in flow rate. If the flow rate of your water filter system
drops, it means that it’s high time to replace your cartridges.
3. Strange tasting water. When your filter cartridges become filled
and can no longer adsorb contaminants, you will notice that your
tap water has a different taste. While sudden changes in the taste
of water can be caused by other issues as well, it’s more likely
that your cartridges are no longer functioning at full throttle.
Change your filter cartridges and test your water if the problem
persists.
