Alloy 625 is now widely used in the oil and gas industry.It has excellent corrosion resistance, with pitting equivalent value (PREN) greater than 45, significantly higher than alloy 718, and super duplex stainless steel.In NACE MR1075 / ISO 15156-3 and API 6A, it is recognized for use in acidic environments (where H2S is present) "for wellhead and tree equipment".Inconel 625 not only provides excellent corrosion resistance, but is also non-magnetic and fire-resistant.This set of physical properties is useful in applications such as downhole equipment and tools for oil and gas exploration.Standpipes, pipe racks and high-strength fasteners all take advantage of the properties of alloy 625.Natural gas processing equipment such as fluid separation units will also use 625 alloy because of its oxidation resistance and good thermal fatigue strength.Because it is efficient austenite in terms of microstructure, it is relatively simple to manufacture and process with proper tools and Settings.
