CNC sheet metal bending


CNC press brakes are programmed offline by computer software, which then transmits the data to the machine controls. Our software is used to program the press to accept a flat blank of sheet metal parts at a given distance, defined by a programmable backstop, to determine the point at which the bend will be formed. The depth at which the top cutter insert enters the V-block has been programmed by assigning the tonnage to distribute the correct force, which will define the angle that the final bend will reach, the farther the V-blade goes into the V-block, the smaller the angle of the final V-bend meeting. The final part can be a combination of different bend lengths and angles generated by the CNC program, positioning the sheet metal part blank at the defined positions and programmed angles


The maximum length of sheet metal parts that can be folded is determined by the length of the CNC bending bed, and the thickness of the material, along with other factors such as material tensile strength and the number of available tonnages, is a key factor in the machine that forms sheet metal. The larger the bottom V-block opening, the larger the sheet metal gauge that can bend the same tonnage. However, as the V-block opening increases, the inner radius of the bend on the sheet metal part also increases, and the minimum folded length also increases.
