Why use a laser to cut parts?

The main reason for using laser cutting technology is to reduce the mechanical stress that the metal sheet is subjected to when it is cut. How does CNC metal laser cutting work?

CNC metal laser cutting uses the concentrated heat of a laser to burn precise shapes into metal sheets. Where the laser touches, the metal melts and cuts the part from the sheet metal. Cutting gas is used to blow away any remaining molten material to ensure smooth and precise edges (this is usually nitrogen, but for thicker materials compressed air is more effective)

What can laser cutting be used for?

Laser cutting is great for making irregularly shaped flat metal parts (sometimes called "blanks"). You can also use laser cutting for regular shapes, but stamping is a more cost-effective process.
