Why Is The Acrylic Stiffener Sheet Used For Acoustic Barriers?

How Does Acrylic Acoustic Noise Barrier Work?

The sound barrier is an acoustic barrier plate which is installed between the noise source and the sound receiving point and is composed of sound absorbing and sound insulating materials.

Noise barriers reduce the sound which enters a community from a busy highway by either absorbing the sound, transmitting it, reflecting it back.

When the sound wave from the noise source encounters the sound barrier, it will propagate along three paths (see figure) :
One part of it will pass over the top of the sound barrier and diffract to reach the receiving point;
A part penetrates the sound barrier to reach the receiving point;
Part of it is reflected on the wall of the sound barrier.
